\u00b0 Patronize small business<\/strong>. It\u2019s not always an easy option, but make the effort to support the community that you\u2019re a part of. Organized efforts to patronize local food growers are taking place all over the country. It\u2019s a start.<\/p>\n

Find ways to patronize local entrepreneurs whenever you can and urge your friends to do the same.<\/p>\n

\u00b0 Adopt a protege.<\/strong> Even if you think you are still a novice, you\u2019re bound to have already learned things that would help a beginner. Don\u2019t be surprised if you\u2019re the one who learns the most.<\/p>\n

\u00b0 Be a micro-lender.<\/strong> My favorite organization is Kiva<\/a> \u00a0because you get to choose the entrepreneur who receives your loan. It\u2019s a real joy to help a business grow in a far corner of the world and it only takes $25 to get started.<\/p>\n

Another popular option comes from Heifer<\/a>\u00a0which has helped all sorts of folks become independent by giving them livestock to raise.<\/p>\n

\u00b0 Start a local Meet Up group<\/strong>. Homebased businesses can be invisible to their neighbors. Why not insitgate a small gathering and see who shows up? This is a great way to connect with other entrepreneurs in your own backyard.<\/p>\n

\u00b0 Help a kid.<\/strong> Volunteer to talk about entrepreneurship at Career Day at your child\u2019s school. Or become a Junior Achievement volunteer. There\u2019s nothing like a living\u00a0 role model to show that there\u2019s an alternative to getting a job.<\/p>\n

\u00b0 Attend Tribal Meetings<\/strong>. Retreats, seminars and workshops designed to help you make your business better are happening all over the place. The connections you make may be as valuable as the information you receive.<\/p>\n
