{"id":3008,"date":"2010-04-03T12:13:40","date_gmt":"2010-04-03T16:13:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joyfullyjobless.com\/blog\/?p=3008"},"modified":"2010-04-03T12:13:40","modified_gmt":"2010-04-03T16:13:40","slug":"you-dont-have-to-wait-to-live-rich","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joyfullyjobless.com\/blog\/2010\/04\/you-dont-have-to-wait-to-live-rich\/","title":{"rendered":"You Don&#8217;t Have To Wait To Live Rich"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Several years ago, <em>Glamour<\/em> magazine published an exercise I had written to help develop and expand our prosperity muscles.\u00a0 Called \u201cA Creative Push for $1 a Day,\u201d the ideas are still useful, although some of them might require an additional dollar or two.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">* Drop the dollar on the street and imagine the joy the finder will have.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">* Add it to your tip at lunch.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">* Find a new gadget for your kitchen or toolbox.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">* Find the most luscious piece of fruit you can and savor it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">* Pick out a lovely card and send it to someone who would never expect it. An ex-boss or lover might be a good choice.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">* Invest it in something of beauty\u2014a tiny plant or flower for your desk perhaps.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">* Surprise a friend and take them out for ice cream in the middle of the day.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">* Enlarge a favorite photo and give it to someone special.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">* Buy a small jar of imported jam and invite a friend for breakfast.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">* Feed expired parking meters.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">* Surprise a stranger and pay for the coffee for the person behind you in line.(Yes, I know that goes beyond the $1 exercise.)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">* When a friend mentions a dream or wish they have, give them a dollar as seed money. Your show of faith in them is worth more than the investment it takes.<\/p>\n<p>Practicing generosity\u00a0can often be done with no money at all. Why not make it your policy to always leave the best parking place? Someone will be thrilled to find the spot you left and you\u2019ll receive the added benefit of the exercise you get by walking a bit farther.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Give blood.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Volunteer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">When you take a walk, carry a bag to pick up litter that\u2019s on your way. As David Dunn says, \u201cDo it for a nicer community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Or what about taking time to let someone know you appreciate their efforts? Handwritten thank you notes never go out of style.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If you did this exercise every day for a year, you wouldn&#8217;t spend very much money, but you&#8217;d be making the world around you sweeter one day at a time. Your imagination would also reap the rewards of the daily creative challenge.<\/p>\n<p>Go ahead.
