Steven Pressfield\u2019s blog post this week was called Just Show Up<\/a><\/em> and talked about the importance of putting yourself in the arenas where you want to succeed. So simple. So easy to resist.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

In my early days of studying success, I discovered that the folks who made the effort, who spent the time and money to attend seminars and gatherings of other entrepreneurs invariably succeeded more quickly than those who avoided such events.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Part of their\u00a0success could be explained as gathering ideas and information that was helpful to their business. But that was only part. Being in the presence of other business builders also made a huge impact.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

One of the most difficult things I ever do is to convince new (and not so new) entrepreneurs to include in their plans regular attendance at events where they\u2019ll connect with other joyfully jobless folks. How do you know when it\u2019s time to show up? Here are some signs:<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

You\u2019ve reached all of your goals<\/p>\n

You\u2019ve reached none of your goals<\/p>\n

You\u2019re in need of some fresh ideas<\/p>\n

You\u2019d like to get a new perspective\u00a0<\/p>\n

Your kids think you\u2019re a nerd and you suspect they\u2019re right<\/p>\n

You can\u2019t remember the last time you felt really excited about something<\/p>\n

You have more ideas than you know what to do with<\/p>\n

You\u2019re scared to death of your real dreams<\/p>\n

You\u2019re ready for a new adventure<\/p>\n

You remember that a change of scenery always refreshes you<\/p>\n

You aren\u2019t making the kind of progress that you\u2019d like<\/p>\n

Nobody ever asks you what\u2019s new<\/p>\n

You need time to figure out your next step<\/p>\n

You want to be bolder<\/p>\n

Resistance is stronger than inspiration<\/p>\n

You\u2019re ready to have more fun with your business<\/p>\n

You think boring and ordinary are the scariest words in the English language<\/p>\n

You want to expand your entrepreneurial network<\/p>\n

You believe your dreams are a good investment<\/p>\n

Your creative spirit needs a jumpstart<\/p>\n

You\u2019re tired of trying to fit someone else\u2019s idea of who you should be<\/p>\n

It sounds like fun<\/p>\n

Or as Steven Pressfield says, “There\u2019s tremendous power in putting your ass where your heart wants to be.”<\/p>\n
