Business books usually fall into two category: how-to or biographical.<\/p>\n
In how-to books, the author may or may not be an entrepreneur.<\/p>\n
Biographical books most frequently are written by someone (and,<\/p>\n
perhaps, their ghostwriter) who has built a successful business and<\/p>\n
tells the story of the inception and growth of that undertaking.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Biographical books also may share advice, but often have the added<\/p>\n
advantage of being inspirational. After all, hardly anyone writes this<\/p>\n
kind of book to tell a story about how they got an idea for a business<\/p>\n
and found themselves rolling in success the next day. Personal<\/p>\n
narratives may not always involve overcoming enormous obstacles, but<\/p>\n
they have the added advantage of being told from personal perspective<\/p>\n
and offer the author\/entrepreneur\u2019s insights into those events that<\/p>\n
shaped the business.<\/p>\n

Winner Takes All<\/em><\/strong> by Christina Binkley is a well-written account of how<\/p>\n modern Las Vegas was shaped by three very different entrepreneurial<\/p>\n thinkers. Terrific storytelling because the story\u2019s so good.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Business Stripped Bare<\/em><\/strong> by Richard Branson shares lessons learned by<\/p>\n this adventurous entrepreneur. You don\u2019t have to build a global empire<\/p>\n to apply what he\u2019s learned to your business.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Small Giants<\/em><\/strong> by Bo Burlingham is an exploration of companies that<\/p>\n chose to be great instead of big.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n The Perfect Store<\/em><\/strong> by Adam Cohen. Even though a lot has happened since<\/p>\n this book was published, it\u2019s an amazing tale of the humble beginnings<\/p>\n of eBay.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Hershey<\/em><\/strong> by Michael D\u2019Antonio is the fascinating story of Milton<\/p>\n Hershey of chocolate fame who was also an ahead-of-his-time social<\/p>\n entrepreneur.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n In Pursuit of the Common Good<\/em><\/strong> by Paul Newman and A.E. Hotchner is a<\/p>\n highly entertaining account of the surprising birth and growth of<\/p>\n Newman\u2019s Own.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Making a Literary Life<\/em><\/strong> by Carolyn See not only offers advice on the<\/p>\n nuts and bolts of writing, but also insights into the interior life of<\/p>\n an author.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n A Sense of Place<\/em><\/strong> with Michael Shapiro is a collection of interviews<\/p>\n with people, including Bill Bryson and Rick Steves, who turned their<\/p>\n love of travel into a writing career.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Make the Impossible Possible<\/em><\/strong> by Bill Strickland is a story I can read<\/p>\n again and again. Genuinely inspiring example of how a positive vision<\/p>\n impacts positively.
