Spring Spruce Up!

Barbara at Buckingham

Although I've got all sorts of tips and resources to share with you, they're going to have to wait. I'm in the final pre-trip frenzy for my upcoming week in the UK. If you're in London or Birmingham or even in the vicinity, I hope to see you at one of my events with Alternatives or Scanners Night or Tree of Life.

There are a couple of cheery things that I'm passing along right now.

In the midst of the usual media gloom, one story popped up yesterday that seemed to have everyone smiling. In case you weren't tuned in, the story that caught the attention of the folks at NPR, Huffington Post and other news outlets involved a 9-year-old boy who built his own arcade out of cardboard boxes in a corner of his father's auto parts store. (If you missed it, here's the video: http://vimeo.com/40000072) It's a charmer-and a great example of how entrepreneurial parents often raise entrepreneurial children.

That wasn't the only thing that had me smiling yesterday. Terri Belford's blog post, Two Important Reasons To Get Excited About April 15th, reminded me about how one of my favorite perks of being self-employed comes around on tax day.

Terri wrote, "As an entrepreneur, you get to deduct your travel, cell phone bill, internet, computer, iPad, business books, trade publications, a portion of the utilities and rent or mortgage on your home office and other expenses that you would incur anyway but if you are an employee, your boss takes the deduction. Each April 15th, I am reminded of how much I would have to earn as an employee to pay all those expenses that my business covers. Do the math-you'll be surprised."

If you're a proudly thrifty entrepreneur (or longing to be), April 15th is also the last day to take advantage of another nice perk: the Early Bird Discount for our next Obstacle-Busting Mastermind.

Don't know what I'm talking about? See below.

In January, Terri Belford and I spent a weekend in a hotel suite with six fledgling entrepreneurs. They came with big ideas that they'd been neglecting for too long. We put our heads together, brainstormed and problem solved. Each left with answers, resources and action steps to make their business a wild success.

Since you've been involved in the self-employment community, read the newsletters, followed the blogs and attended seminars, I know you aspire to launch your own business, or improve on what you've already begun but something's holding you back.
  • Is it lack of capital?
  • Fear of failure or risk?
  • Too many ideas and trouble focusing on just one?
  • Not knowing where to begin?

Terri and I pondered these questions and kept asking ourselves how we can help you to bust through the obstacles that are keeping you from taking the steps toward you ideal livelihood.

What if you could start or grow your business without having to quit your job, lose your health insurance or borrow a lot of money?

What if you had a tailor-made plan of steps to take so that you could launch your business without having to take risks that make you uncomfortable?

What if you could overcome any doubts and roadblocks to finally make it happen? No more procrastination. No more overwhelm or distraction. No more excuses. Just clear action steps designed for your individual business.

Between us we have 70 years of self-employment and neither of us started without major obstacles to work around. Single parenthood, naysayers. not enough money, no templates for guidance, no masterminds to bounce ideas off of and no internet. But we each had something greater and you have it too: a strong desire to be the master of our own lives, captain of our own ships and the designer of our own destinies.

We want so much to see you enjoy the life you aspire to that we designed a workshop where we hole up in a living room setting with a small group and brainstorm solutions to YOUR individual stumbling blocks so that you can bust through those barriers and make it happen.

Because some of you couldn't make it in January and asked us to do this again, we are inviting you to join us in May for the second Obstacle-Buster Mastermind.

This isn't like any seminar or workshop you've attended before. You won't be one of many students passively listening to a lecture. You'll be one of a few select dreamers who are ready to be doers.

This is your opportunity to get face-to-face time with Terri and me in an intimate group setting focusing on YOUR individual ideas and work around the roadblocks that have been holding you back.

We'll examine YOUR dream and YOUR obstacles and together we'll work around the challenges to find solutions so that 2012 will be the year you finally get your dream business rolling.

Ask yourself, "How badly do I want to create my ideal livelihood? Am I ready to commit to taking the first baby-steps toward my dream?"

If you hesitated, this isn't for you. But, if you answered "I REALLY want this and I am ready to face the challenges and jump the hurdles NOW", you are ready to join us for this mastermind weekend and create a plan so that 2011 was the very last time you ever look back on the year regretting you didn't accomplish your goals.

And you won't be left on your own after the workshop. You'll have a tight community of motivated doers to problem solve with. You'll have regular accountability calls to help you stay on track. You'll have a tribe supporting your dream, cheering you on and celebrating your accomplishments.

So when does the magic begin?

We'll meet Friday through Sunday, May 18th through 20th.  Why so soon? Because you are ready now to take action.

Where? At the Embassy Suites Denver and we'll be right by the airport so you don't even need to rent a car.

How can you be part of this select mastermind? Well, we're limiting enrollment to keep it intimate so that we can focus on YOUR goals, so if you know you want to finally make your dreams happen, REGISTER NOW.

If you register by April 15th, you'll qualify for the
        Early Bird Special of $497.
If there are any places left on April 16th, the price will be $579.

Why are we charging so little for all this individual attention when others charge thousands for you to attend a seminar with hundreds of people? Because we don't want price to be a barrier to your finally making it happen NOW.

WHAT IF you aren't 100% sure what business you want to focus on? (Remember this isn't a 'let's get inspired' workshop. It's a 'let's make it happen' mastermind. So you do need to be clear on WHAT you want.)
We're both excited about helping you go from dreaming to doing, so  let's make it happen NOW.

I am heading to the UK so, if you have any questions, email Terri
