Too often, we decide to follow a path that is
not really our own,
one that others have set for us. We forget that, whichever way we
go,
the price is the same: in both cases we will pass through both
difficult and happy moments. But when we are living our dream,
the difficulties we encounter make sense.
~ Paulo Coelho
Curiosity...adventure...change
of scenery...fascinating people...discovery...lifelong learning.
All these things fuel wanderlust, that
impulse to travel that baffles those who haven’t felt it. Seems to
me that these are the same things that urge us to step out from the
crowd and embrace self-employment. When we take that bold step, we
find that adventure, discovery and all those rewards of travel
become part of our everyday experience—whether we leave home or not.
Unfortunately, it can also be a lonely
journey. A century ago, nine out of ten of us worked for ourselves;
by the time the millennium rolled around, those figures were
reversed. So not only do we have to overcome a lifetime of
conditioning to think and behave like an employee, we also volunteer
to join a minority when we go out on our own. Isolation can stop us
before we ever get started.
That’s where I come in. I’ve been
Joyfully Jobless almost all of my adult life. I’ve also had the
pleasure of helping thousands of others leave dreary jobs behind and
create a life where living their dreams is a daily experience. In
fact, one of the things I hear most often is, “I can’t believe I get
paid to have all this fun.”
So I’ll be sharing tips, ideas,
resources and inspiration that you can borrow to make your own
journey the joyful adventure that you want it to be. And because
ideas beget ideas, I’ll be sharing new discoveries via my
Buon Viaggio Blog.
I hope you’ll stop back often. Then
keep moving ahead.
